Il Rombo is a welcoming farmhouse, recently renovated and equipped with all the modern comforts, situated in a residential area close to the historic city of Lucca in central Italy’s Tuscany region.
The five-bedroom villa is part of a large estate, offering plenty of space to unwind without compromising privacy. The house has been wonderfully restored to retain a great sense of history, with all of the quintessential elements here, from beamed ceilings to terracotta tiles and original stonework. Guests can relax in the living room, which stays cool thanks to its thick stone walls. Home cooks will be in their element in the country-house kitchen, which is fantastic for rustling up an Italian feast for the whole group. In addition, all five bedrooms are traditionally decorated in a Tuscan style with oak wood furniture and iron-wrought bed frames alongside air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms to meet all your needs.
Enjoy your days off by relaxing in the neatly manicured gardens with its large pool with enough sun beds for the entire family, or exercise in the shared tennis court framed by cypress trees. Outdoor dining in the pergola makes the most of the beautiful views over olive groves and dipping hills underneath a twinkling night sky.
You can find many charming Tuscan villages with various shops and restaurants a short drive away. When looking for somewhere more lively, Lucca is only 20 minutes away by car and is full of attractions, such as the city walls that can be explored by foot or bike.
With its famous leaning tower, Pisa is only a 40-minute drive from the property when you want to switch up the scenery or need a spontaneous day trip idea.
You are well placed to head into the rolling Tuscan hills, where you can enjoy hiking trails through ancient woodlands, picnic in the pungent botanical gardens of Renaissance villas or sample wines at wonderful vineyards. There are plenty of beaches and natural wonders to explore here if you’re a keen outdoor lover, such as Parco Regionale Migliarino, San Rossore, Massaciuccoli nature park and Cascata dell'Infernaccio with stunning waterfalls.
Architecture and art lovers shouldn’t miss Florence, boasting a wealth of centuries-old buildings, Renaissance landmarks, fascinating galleries and museums, and a bustling dining scene.
