Nestled on a Tuscan hillside between the beautiful valleys the Val D’Orcia and Val di Chiana you will find Cento Petali. This 6-bedroom home is an ideal blend of old and new; with chic, modern interiors behind the wonderfully preserved historic walls.
As you approach Cento Petali through the two acres of fenced gardens you will be able to appreciate the peace and quiet that this rural idyll offers. With rolling hills to one side and woodland to the other you can spend your days unwinding, surrounded by wild roses and looking out for the local hares, deer and cuckoos. The garden here is a real highlight and blends seamlessly with the nearby farmland. Whether you wish to spend your time swimming in the private pool or cooking al-fresco using produce from the gardens this is a fabulous space for your whole party to enjoy.
Stepping indoors, the interiors are just as lovely as the grounds; the light and airy rooms are filled with high-quality furnishings and the walls are lined with contemporary art work from the owner’s gallery. The ground floor is the heart of the home with two connected living rooms and a large dining room which is perfect for eating together as a group. Two of the elegant bedrooms can also be found on this floor, these rooms are both en-suite and have doors onto the garden. Upstairs there are 4 more bedrooms to choose from and each is a serene space to recharge. Why not have a long soak in the bath tub after a busy day.
The home has everything you need to make your stay even more comfortable, including Wi-Fi, Air conditioning, a fully-fitted kitchen, satellite TVs and even a gym in a separate annexe.
As well as countryside to explore by foot or by bike, there is lots to see and do in this area of Tuscany. There are countless historic towns and villages dotted around amongst the green farmland, the nearest of which is Sarteano at just 6km away. If you need to pick up some groceries then the village is a short drive away.
Sarteano is more than a quick pit-stop however and this medieval village is somewhere you should visit for an afternoon. The village has a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants but also has a number of attractions like the Renaissance palace which contains a fascinating archaeological museum. You can also visit the 1000-year-old castle which overlooks the whole area and now hosts art exhibitions, though you can still see the draw bridge and medieval prison cells! If you visit during the summer months then keep an eye out for Sarteano’s medieval festivals where you will see parades, plays and jousts with all of the participants in authentic middle-ages costumes.
If you wish to make the most of the great outdoors then you can play tennis or golf or head out on a horse-trek all in under a 20km radius. Alternatively the vast wine estates of Montepulciano are just 26km away, visit a family-run vineyard to spend the day in nature sampling some of the region’s finest wines and learn all about how they are produced.
There are many more places you can visit within easy reach from villages such as Cetona (13km away) the town of Pienza (28km away) and the beaches of Lake Trasimeno (39km away).
